I cannot reccommend this book if you easily fall into the trap of lamenting what could have been. There is so much gorgeous art in this book, a lot of it however is stuff that did not make it into the final game or was heavily altered for the final game, and much of what was altered or lost is so much better than what we eventually ended up getting. Odyssey is a fantastic game but crazy to think of how much more amazing it could have been. The biggest mistake of this game was going with a realistic look for New Donk City and it's residents. They had originally planned to have Mario styled humans like in the old gameboy Mario sports games, and a city that looks more like something out of Mario Kart.... this is just one of many things that could have been so much better in this book, and while I love the book, I almost wish I didn't know what we lost. The book is huge by the way. Larger than the Mario Encyclopedia or even Zelda: Art and Artifacts. It comes with a pretty sturdy dust cover. Make sure you have room for this behemoth of a book.
