Lovely book on finding beauty everywhere in life. It's a great message that I think every kid should learn. However, the references, though entirely appropriate, might be beyond a little kid's limited experience and they may not fully appreciate it. Not every 3 year old understands that a bus is an alternative means of transportation with colorful personalities or what a soup kitchen is and why people are there, all of which I think are crucial to the idea that the story is trying to convey. Lots of teachable moments in this book, but wait until your child has experienced a little more in life so that the message won't be lost on them.
